This policy applies to personal data collected through the paymentdisputes.ae website. It does not cover any other website you may reach through a link from this site. Each external website has its own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.

To provide legal services. If you go on to instruct Millath Legal FZ LLE or its India affiliate, we use your information to carry out that engagement. The lawful basis is the performance of our contract with you and our compliance with professional and regulatory obligations.

To operate and improve the website. We use technical and analytics data to keep the site secure, to fix problems, and to understand which content is useful. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe and effective website.

To comply with law. We may process personal data where we are required to do so by applicable law or by a competent authority. The lawful basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

We do not use your personal data to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Payment disputes often involve more than one person. When you contact us, you may give us information about a counterparty, such as the name of a buyer, supplier, customer, debtor, guarantor, or related individual. We use that information only to assess and, if relevant, to handle your matter, and we hold it under the same care as information about you. If you provide information about another person, you confirm that you have a proper reason to share it with us in connection with your dispute.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for the marketing purposes of others. We share it only in the limited situations below.

Service providers. We use trusted third parties to run the website, including a hosting provider and Google for analytics. These providers process data on our instructions and only for the purposes we set.

Our legal practice. If you become a client, your information is handled within Millath Legal FZ LLE and, where relevant to your matter, its India affiliate, Millath and Associates, under professional duties of confidentiality.

Legal and regulatory disclosure. We may disclose personal data where we are required to do so by law, by a court, or by a regulator, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or comply with our professional obligations.

Millath Legal FZ LLE is based in the UAE. Some of the service providers we use, including our analytics provider, may store or process data on servers located outside the UAE. Where personal data is transferred outside the UAE, we take reasonable steps so that it remains protected to a standard consistent with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law.

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it.

Enquiry data from website forms is kept for the period needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you contact us again. If your enquiry does not lead to an engagement, we delete or anonymise it once it is no longer needed.

Client data, where you instruct us, is kept for the duration of the engagement and afterwards for the period required by our professional and regulatory obligations.

Analytics data is retained for the limited periods set within our analytics tools and is held in aggregated or anonymised form.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No website, and no transmission of data over the internet, can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we ask that you do not send highly sensitive or confidential documents, including cheques, invoices, statements of account, or contracts, through the website forms. Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law you have rights over your personal data. Subject to the conditions and exceptions in that law, you may:

• ask us to correct personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete
• ask us to delete personal data where there is no longer a valid reason for us to keep it
• ask us to restrict or stop certain processing of your personal data
• ask to receive certain personal data you provided to us in a usable format
• withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting processing already carried out

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the UAE Data Office.

This website is intended for adults dealing with commercial and contractual matters. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the website, in our practices, or in the law. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to make it noticeable on the site.
